Monument to commemorate Germany’s unification opened in Berlin

A monument to former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachyov, former US President George Bush senior and former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl has opened at the site of a what used to be a checkpoint through the Berlin Wall.

Opening the monument, former German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt said that it is thanks to Gorbachyov’s courage, Bush’s circumspection and Kohl’s decisiveness that Germany was finally reunited.
